Unable to unbend cone

When the edge planes intersect on cones axis, then cone will unfold. In this example the edge planes do not intersect. When selecting fixed geometry like the long straight edge, reply is "inappropriate geometry selected".
Can anyone help?

I attached a cone that I have just created and unbent. I created the cone as a revolve, converted to sheetmetal with a driving surface and created an unbend using one of the outer edges as the fixed geometry.

In your example the edge planes intersect the cone axis. I cut your cone on a plane inside the cone axis. How can this be unfolded?

If I cut this cone in half, on a plane intersecting the cone axis, then I can unfold half the cone by selected the edge on this cut plane as fixed geometry. This only gives me half the layout I need.

You need to rip the cone first.
