Updating the start up template.

I have some models already created using a startup template. Now I have to make the same models using a new template. Is there any way to change the template for an existing part? This will save a lot of my time.

It is not just the units. The starup template contains so many parameters like material, Created on, created by, names of the datum planes, description, layersand many other parameters.

I now have a new template into which the parts created have to be inserted into.

Hai,

When ustart a new part, it willshow USE DEFAULT TEMPLATE.If u want to use ur part cancel the TICK mark in that option and give OK. In the next window using BROWSE option bring ur created part and give OK. Now ur new part will have ur presetted parameters and all.

Hi, Shankar.

First open the old model, reduce the windiow size of this part to about 30% (this is to help you see two parts at a time on same screen)then Create a new part using your new templet, Go to Feture>copy>form different model>done (in the new part), select the Old model window form the task bar, it will popup click on the old part, Open the old part's model tree, select every thing except the datum planes and co-ordinate system, select done, select defaults, Pro-e will ask you to confirm the directions of the planes select as required, say done, and that should be it, all the features from the old model are copied in the new part with your new template.

that was a long story, hope that helps you, Let me know your findings.

All the best.

For this u create UDF's inold part and use that in new part. It will nicely workout, with respect to old part internal feature references.

Hi,

Thankyou very much. I have tried both UDF and copy from diff model and both of them work fine.

I have a doubt, I am not sure whether the new part could be opened independentlyie would there be any problemin opening the new part without the old one. I dont want the new part to be associated with the old one. I should be able to make changes to both the parts independently. Also I dont want to see the feature as a group, so I am ungrouping the copied feature. I think this should not give me any problems right?

Can you please axplain a litltle further.

I am trying to do the same thing. I have the old model and the new blank model open, in the new model I select Edit/Feature Operations/Copy/FromDifModel/Done then select the old model, then OK, then done, then done again and nothing happens. Can anyone help.

Thanks in advance,
