Updating Winchill 8 to Windchill 9

Is there anyone out there who has moved from Windchill PDM Link 8 to version 9 yet?

I am trying to work out how to move our production server up to release 9 but I cannot find any clear instructions on how to do this. It was never like this with Intralink 3.x where PTC gave you precise instructions on how to update an existing installation. With this crap I you get is the solution installer which I am sure is fine if you want to update from WC9 datecode F000 to M010 etc but nowhere does it include how to move up from version 8. I want to do it myself so that we can keep PTC away from our bank ballance.

I tried persevering with it and thought well ok then I will have a go installing it as a new installation on a spare server whilst I wait an age to get any help or a straight answer out of PTC. I then find that version 9 requires Oracle 10g and guess what, PTC no longer bundle the Oracle disks with your v9 disks. We now have to buy Oracle 10g direct thus invoking Oracle license costs. Have PTC reduced the cost of Windchill accordingly? Have they hell.

Version 9 puts back all the good things that they removed from Intralink 3.x when they created version 8 so I am keen to do this.
