Upgrading from Intralink 3.3 to PDMlink 9

Hey everyone,

We are going to be upgrading to PDMlink 9.0 in the near future (to follow our corporate offices) and I had a couple of quick questions.

1. I read somewhere that in order to upgrade to PDMlink 9.0 you need to be at least at Intralink 3.4, the problem is I can' t seem to find that article again. Can anyone confirm that?

2. Our office is fairly small in terms of database size, and intially we will be using PDMlink strictly as our data management tool (the enterprize functionality will eventually be implemented, but dependent on other initiatives). My question is, is it difficult at all to complete the migration by ourselves? Or is it worth the money to avoid aggravation and hire someone else to do it? If anyone out there has upgraded to PDMlink 8.0 on their own, I would love to hear any sage words of advice or warning you may have.

Thanks

I saw the same article to go to PDMLInk 9 or Intralink 9 you will need to be on Intralink 3.4.

As for migration, there are a couple of options, PTC has a support package that will help you migrate the data and give you a certain number of consult hours. The migration tool is DOS based so there is no nice easy interface, as well you will need to fix errors. The conversion tool is much more than the Pro/PDM to Intralink one, much more. I have talked to a company that converted and they said wait as the tools and software has been getting much better as the releases come out. As well hopefully soon someone will offer a conversion based on the size of the data base at some rate. There are companys out there doing PDMLink on a fixed cost and it is a matter of time that the price keeps dropping, especially as more people use it.
