Upgrading from WF1 to WF2

We are currently looking at updating our WF1 to WF2 but we still use 2001 for some customers. Will 2001 still work with our new style licsence?

What does the new license need is it still network card based on each machine?

What effect will it have on our floating modules? we have Pro NC, Mecannica stuctual and MDO .

Any help would be appreciated

WF2 uses "Simplified licenses" - with a different format from previous ones. Plus the flexLM version is different. Try a search on PTC.com or PTC/USER email exploders for more on this topic. Also - I think there's an article on a past www.profilesmagazine.com article.

In short:

Uninstall the old Flexlm at the license server.A server reboot is necessary. Installthe latest flexlm and reread the new "standard" license file, the one that does not support license borrowing.

Install WF2 on any machine you like, ptcsetup should run fine and isn't hard. You can select the basic (foundation) licenses and the available license extensions with their names, instead of the config-id's.

For the machines still running 2001, use the command "ptsetup.bat -simplify proe", exactly that phrase. In themenu now you can choose between a setup wit config id or no config id. Choose no config id. Remove all previous startup commands and create new ones with the basic licenses with their optional extensions.

Whatabout intralink?

It seems like when updating licence files to 3.4, 3.2 is no longer able to se the licences.

Any workaround for this?
