Using Moving parts to cut-out each other

Hello, again

This is my 2nd problem involving two moving discs.

Disc Ahas had all but a triangular wedge cut off it so that it looks like a disc with an isociliestriangle on top with its point at the axis of the disc.

Disc B is a normal flat-ish cylindrical disc.

They both rotate perpendicular in mechanism. I am trying to cut a best fit hole in Disc B, using Disc A's triangular pockey-out bit. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Currently I run the mechanism until interference is detected, have to go out of mechanism, cutout Disc B from Disc A and go back run it some more. etc... I am looking formore of an elegant way so that the cuts are smooth.

I guess thatif a method could be used for this it could similate cutting a gear using a rack and a disc as well?

Thank youfor any help or suggestions

once you have the motion you want.

try mechanism--->trace curves

select the part u want a curve to be generated on (ie the part u want to cut out off)

then select a driving point (vertex or datum point) , and pick the motion analysis

this will generate a curve of the resulting motion using that point as a "pencil"

u can then use that curve to make a offset curve to cut out your clearances.

hope this helps :)
