video card recommendation for Pro-E

cad fool

I am trying to run the Pro-E tryout edition on my PC, it is new it has no viruses. It is a 3.2 Ghz Celeron chip with 512 MB of RAM. I would think I would have enough horse power to run the software but it runs very chopy. Sometimes the whole drawing area/ model is not visble or there will be a black spot where a dilog box was after it is closed. I have a 128 ATI Video card in the machine now but obviously that is not enough. Can anyone help me with this. Do I need more RAM? a bigger VC? Any suggestions?

PTC recommends 1GB minimum.

Which ATI card? The Radeon cards are not supportted, but I have a 9800Pro at home and it does work. The Fire series are workstation class cards.

Hi,

I think ur main problem is ur processor. Celeron is not a recommened processor for Pro/E anyway.

Besides, I guess that you are using a non certified Graphic card - But
no problem,at all. looslib is right, ATI Radeon is a non-supported card
but it should works fine. For Radeon card, it is rocommend that you set
the graphic option in config.pro to win32_gdi

graphic win32_gdi

For RAM, 512 should be good enough for assemblies less than 1000 components.

Understand from ur description, ur problem seems like causing by either
processor or graphic card. So if u would like to upgrade RAM, i suggest
you to try before purchase.

nothing much i can help on ur system, try the graphic config.pro options. hopes it improve a bit

Celron defintely is not recommended for Pro/E, apart from their high clock speeds, it some how dosent match up to pentium with a simmilar rating.

& check the make of the Ram, the quality of the ram has drastic effects on the performance of ur system

512 MB should do fine but 1 G B is recommended,
