I have a 3d structural member with notches on both ends that I must straighten. I have a pretty good method worked out to do this, but for now, the catch is that my weldment property for length seems imppossible to link to a dimension, which can drive another, straight structural member. This is important, because the weldment property is a dynamic length, and otherwise I will have to manually dimension each segment to get the dynamic length. (problem is, 3dSketch fillets won't allow me to dimension an arc length to link to, so I can't use 3dSketches with that method, which is a huge pain....has anyone else noticed this?)
So, I'm trying in vain to link the weldment cut list property "LENGTH" to a dimension on a single-line sketch, but solidworks seems specifically designed to prevent me from doing this. I get error messages like "that equation evaluates to a value outside modeler resolution" which I have googled, but no one seems to have gotten that message and posted it.
Would a linked excel-based design table with formulaic references work? That is the one option I havent tried yet, but I'm hoping I won't have to because it won't be any faster.

SolidWorks Corporation,if you care, get with the program!! Include structural member straightening already, most of the world still employs a person to cut and bend tubes-we don't all have $100,000 PEPS bender-cutters!
