WF3 select by type

In Analysis -> Measure -> Distance menu,

is there anyway I can specify the type of entity to select like 2001 or earlier version?

For example, I just would like WF3 to pick planes or axis only. Quick or Feature option doesn't seem to do any good. It selects irrelevant entities before I get to select the one I need. This has been painful. I am new to WF3 version.

Thank you.

Hi nuspam, one thing I can mention is that once you have selected Measure/Distance and you have the select box shown, go down to bottom right of your screen to the TAB which allows you to select certain features, you should be able to select datums and axis from there.

Hello nuspam,

The box in the lower right corner of your screen that defaults to "All" can be used to specify axis or surface or many other items. This is not limited to Analysis. Hope that helps.

Just ran into this myself. I kind of liked the old way in W2 better. It was more convenient to pick it right in the box instead of using the bottom box.

I wonder why people criticise new releases. Programmers work hard to make things more user-friendly.

To stick to this very problem, just browse through the dialogue box of distance measure and you will see its much easier.

So, I do not want to sound like I do not like W3. There are some great things that they changed. But some things, were better off left alone. Why change something that is working well? Like this for instance. In W2, you could select datum plane, surface etc right from the Measurement Box, which you could basically move to be right beside the part you are measuring. Now I have to go to the bottom of the page to click on what I want and then back up to the part. It takes more time. It may seem trivial, but when you do this several times a day it adds up.

On a side note, I give props to programmers who take the time to try and make things better. It is hard work and I certainly would not want to do it.
