WF4

I hear ISDX got another serious push. Sorry to make it all about technique but thats what we teach.... For example in the auto design world auto designers use a modeling technique called 'direct modeling'. That is where you rough out a form using curves and surfaces then sweeten everything up later. Basically a sort of rectangle becomes a porsche thru this modeling technique of increasing the quality of a curve to seven and thus the surfaces also increase to a higher order.

Well PTC made a big jump towards the ability to do a direct modeling technique which should be impossible to do with a feature based parametric modeler. They almost got it too. Quite impressive move from the brain trust at PTC. In the new version users will be able to modify the internal CV's of a surface inside ISDX. Will not be able as far as I can tell be able to modify the degree of a curve but I bet that is for WF5.0 I cant wait to create a tutorial for it as I got a few good examples I'll have to create a whole new class for it... Poor solidworks.

modifying a quality of a curve: modifying a three degree curve to become a four five, six or seven degree curve.
three degree curve: a nurbs curve that has no internal edit points and two internal CV's for modification.

Any chance that they will update the spline tools in the sketcher to allow more control, especially with a C2 state at spline ends? It would be great if you could select the degree as well so you can have a spline with 2 points but 5 CVs overall...

Asking to much maybe, especially if they are focused on ISDX.

I doubt it. I have a laundry list 200 long for updates and wish list. If it is any correlation my wish list for solidworks is 10x the proe wish list.

Any chance they'll make it easier to quit out of a feature whilst doing the sketch, instead of have to click 4 or 5 times to confirm a cancel?? Or even better any chance they make it a few less button click to create a feature, as I remember it actually got worse from wf1 to wf2!! Brain Trust indeed.

WF3 introduced less clicks to cancel out of sketcher.

with all the SW bashing, I'll throw out the fact that a single press of the escape key in SW cancels pretty much any action instead of the endless quit, yes, confirm, really, etc., etc. Unless WF3.0 reduced the number of clicks to one, they're trailing in this race anyway.

I don't dislike Pro-E as much as I used to, but there are still plenty of things I miss that SW just did better.

They did reduce the number of clicks to one, or two if you have added geometry to the sketch you get a confirm quit question.

Esc or CTRL A works fine too.

WF4 was completely hard-coded last June. A PTC manager informed us in one of the presentation in Dallas. I am sure it was beta tested for the next PTC conference coming this June. That's one way to generate the audience.

Technically, WF5 is in the works for the next next PTC conference.
