Why ’Mate’ icon greyed out.

At some point during the inserting of 'parts' into my assembly, the 'Mate" icon located between the 'No Externa...' and 'Move Compo...' icon became greyed out.

The only way for me to mate newly inserted parts is to right click over the part and scroll down the 'properties' window and use the 'Add/Edit Mates' command.

Is the away to get the 'Mates' icon 'back'.

You can move any icon anyewhere:

Right click any toolbar (in a clean area, not over an icon) and choose CUSTOMIZE.

Drag the icon where you want. If you drag the icon in the screen, the icon disapear (the icon is deleted from the toolbar)

So... if you can position the mate icon anywhere, anywhare the mate icon has the same functionality and work similary. I do not know what is your problem but I know what problem you have NOT: the iconposition is NOT your problem.
