Wire Clip instance

Hi,

I am struggling to create an instance for the wire clip which is shown below. I have created the part which is in free state. Now i need to create the part which is shown in the compressed state. Only one difference is that inclination. I dont want to create a another part, i want to create a family table for that free state. Is that possible to create a family table or else another new part.

Please try it out and give me the result.
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi all,

I think so many variable dimensions are there while the clip compressing. That dimensions i need to add to the family table and enter the corresponding values.
Is that possible to add only one inclination dimension to create an instance?

I have not tried this with model but I assume that if You try to make it by Sweep(I am sure You`ve already done this like that), but make a trajectory from to intersected surfaces, then I think You will create one surface with dimension for bending and use it in assembly with Flexibility function or by Family table

Hi Jacek

Can we give some relations with respect to that angle to the dimensions that are varying if we change degree.

Been there, done that, not hard.

A few years ago at a previous company I did a family table of BGA heatsinks of which the generic looked like.

The table had about 20 instances with heatsinks of various dimensions and the wire clip bent at different angles so they would "fit" into the retention loops like this

The wire was modelled as a series of datum curves each of which was modelled in a single plane then a round profile was swept through a selected trajectory. Changing the bend angle was a simple matter of changing one angle (in this case the 45
