Zoom changes when suppressing features

When I am troubleshooting a model and turn on and off features one by one, it keeps randomly zooming in and out and sometimes even spinning. This is maddening and make my troubleshooting impossible in some cases.

There is an option for drawing called "sketcher_refit_after_dim_modify" which prevents the sketcher from zooming in and out randomly. Can I do a similar thing with the part modeler?

I have not found anything to stop that. My workaround is to create a view for the area that I am working on so when it goes crazy I can just go back to that view. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear but it works.

i have had the same thing happen in the past. usually it was a datum plane that was the cause. turn on allplanes and see if one is larger than the model, if so resize it and it will stop.

Good idea mega, that makes sense and I'll remember to look for it next time this happens. Thanks.

The problem has to do with having the spin center turned
off. If you rotate your model relative to a surface or
edge, that position is determined by that edge, when you
suppress things it looses the definition of the "view"
(I'm not talking about saved views).

You can verify this by working with the spin center
turned on for a while and notice that the problem doesn't
exist.

To remove the problem while still working in spin-center
off mode is to use the view->orientation->previous
command. I have made a mapkey "p" for previous to launch
that command, it will rotate you to the previous
orientation

seems to be a pretty good workaround. Working in spin-
center on mode is not an option for me, so automating the
previous view command is pretty helpful.

We have long complained about the "random zoom to infinity" function built into many commands. It wastes time, scares newbies (oh no! I've erased everything!), and adds nothing of value. Please, a toggle to turn this off for all commands?
