3D sketch

Is Pro/E capable of doing a 3D sketch?

I ideally want to come up with multiple nodes in 3 dimensions, and then
link them with sketches to complete a 3D sketch of a chassis.

Is this possible?

Cheers...

I'm not completely understand your question, but answer would be Yes, you can create several curves in different planes, and link them together to achieve 3D curve shape, then you can create surface from them.

If you would provide picture, what you want to model, then I could tell you better answer, maybe this what you want to model, is easier to create different way.

Note: this should be under Modeling thread, not under Drawing thread.

I wat to model a FSAE race car spaceframe chassis. This is made up of
many straight tubular sections. I do not need 3D curves.

I will post under modelling section now.

Thanks

i couldnt but stop noticing this thread, have u tried using the style feature?? i have modeled an audi tt and the have also presented a tutorial also, so conduct a search in the modelling section and search for audi tt and you will find many answers... however i would liek to indicate that unlike solidworks i have not come across a feature in pro e taht allows a 3d sketch to be conducted how ever teh closest we get to a 3d sketch is creating splines with freedom in a 3d motion and this can be performed in teh style function..

What I have gathered is that you go...

Insert> model datum> point> sketched...

Sketch points on a plane.

Do the same on multiple planes, then

Insert> model datum> curve

Then select the datum points to be connected. Selecting more then two will create "curves" through each selection.

Its great, and is almost what Im looking for, but there is a way I can stop the "curves" and just have straight lines?

An ISO hand sketch would be good for us to visualize your efforts.
You can basically sketch 2d sketches on planes separated
by a parametric distance... then connect those ends with curve thru
points. Those are square parts of a sheet of paper if you well.
Any curve can be a strait line or arced or splined.
