Assembly shown as part?

I've downloaded 3 seperate components from ASCO's website and I've created a sub-assembly, now I want to put the sub-assembly into the top level assembly but I want it to show as a part and not an assembly in the drawing table. Is this possible?

You could merge the three parts into one part.

make the sub assembly as an IGES file in same name, that can made aspart file.

Whether it's a part or an assembly is irrelevant for the drawing BOM? if the 3 components are assembled as a sub-assembly then you will only have one name appearing in your table anyway. Why is there a need to create an IGES file from your 3 assembled IGES parts?

In the BOM table it states that the sub assembly is an assembly and I'd like it to be shown as a part.


Thankyou rajeshshan I've saved the assembly as a step file then opened that as a part and it worked a treat, I don't know why I didn't think of that.

you can also save assy as shrinkwrap :


Save as - extension list - shrinkwrap - you will get "one prt file......."
