Can Pro/E do this?

yes, you can "color each side with a jpg" . It

You can achieve "Black Edges"
when you open the assembly in Productview Express or
Product View.


You may then snip the image (Windows 7) or Alt+Prtscn
(Windows) and create any image file. I am not sure whether
a "Save As" image file is provided in the Viewer.

You can right click and select 'Copy Image'

Proe Render function is quite weak,

Recently i had to make some renders for a paper. with
photolux engine and predefined scenes i got nice images,

This is ugly but it will give the desired effect.

Set the color of the part to black.
Set all surfaces to cyan. Or yor choice of color.
Enable the display of edges for shading.

Now the parts should display as desired.

I think you can do this with Creo Illustrate PTC - Creo Illustrate - 3D Technical Illustrations - Product Design
It is for animation and illustration.
