Hii there

I just wanna know from u pro's that have u ever come across some thing tough and complicated to model for if yes wat was the product and reply with pictures would be welcomed so tht other could also have hand on tht model

waiting for response

The mustang was 3200 features, tons of datums and patterns. The grills took-up alot of space.

this is an older model of the engine. you get the idea. I've modeledall of the engine components you can think of. flywheel housings, cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, front housuins, water pumps valve trains, crankshafts. etc..... everything in the picture, but not necessarily that same part.

If you want to learn how to make a complex model:

Get an old engine (from a motorcycle or scooter). Take it apart, clean
it up (so you don't get your computer covered in grease) and get some
measuring tools, and duplicate the design in Pro/Engineer.

Something that really bothers me about this forum is the fact that
someone cannot post a picture of their work without being asked
the model (in many threads, the majority of posts are just requests to send
models, and a waste of time to read and download).

People's models are their hard work and in most cases are the property
of their employer. Its unprofessional to ask someone to give away
confidential company information (and risk criminal charges) so you can
learn Pro/E.

Hello all

I just want to focus back on topic subject. Well, as I notice mostly
people mention about sufrace made models like cars, airplanes etc, as
hardest ones. To be true I think the same problems or even bigger one
can find while modelling rough part with big number of rounds and
drafts. Such a model can bring a lot of problems.

From my experience the most trouble makers are rounds. Yeap, that is right. Drafts too.

dsergison

Could You tell me if You had any problem while modelin that engine with rounds or drafts. If You did, how did You solve them?

hii there

Thanx for the response i came upon this complicated model so anyone out there willing to help me with this model i got this from net and try to do it in pro-e can someone out there help me out

thanx in advanceView attachment 1340

Take one section of it and model it using var sec sweep

Copy transform the rest

It may be easier if you a have a side view of it to import into isdx trac sketch.

That shape can also be the product of a boolean operation between a solid and a surface.

Start with a solid cube, round off it's edges, and use the Warp tool to sculpt it so that it matches the "outer" shape.

Make another cube as a surace, round off its edges as well and again
use the warp tool to sculpt the "inner" shape that is subtracted from
the original cube.

Solidify the second quilt into a cut and you should have your shape.

The warp tool is not your only option for this (the cubes can be
scuplted in ISDX or Pro/Surface) but I would recommend using the
boolean subtractor technique.

Look at the picture and try to visualize the two shapes...

That's always part of the big problem. (rounds/drafts)

my favorite problems is old engineers. -who insist the drawings produced from proe look exactly like the ones they did with pen on vellum. -who don't realize that if everything is drafted and roundedyou don't see sh*t on the drawing view without tangent lines displayed..... but who don't like tangent lines.....

-----bangs head on desk!

that, plus people telling you don't use surfaces because they are too complex for downstream users to work with. So, do their complex freaking model using only basiccut's and protrusions.

I've seen him banging his head on the desk before, and now I'm doing the same - I wish someone would answer my question I posted on Friday.....

dsergison you hit the point

I spent two years on making old drawings live in Pro\e and that is not
nice. It is incredible what pen, paper and traingle could take but
Pro\e won`t.

I am still involve with this stuff, furtunately as Pro\e supporter

drafts and rounds are all but nothing nice to work with

I noticed that advanced round funcionality can not handle difficult rounds

Second thing I noticed was - right seqeunce of rounds is very important

Third thing - if round could not be deliver in org value(drawing
value), I make it in way it is possible and put the dimension on
drawing with @o

It is common that in this situation model is not an orginal copy as it is on drawing

The question I have to You is:

Do You always achive the shape it is on paper drawing, you make all
drafts, and rounds or you just leave things that hard to do?
