Copy geometry & Style tool

Goodmorning to all

Can anyone explain me fast how do I use Copy geometry tool ??
and How i can dimension (inside Drawing) Surface free form?? (with Style tool)

Thanks in advance :)

The copy geometry tool allows you to pull geometry (copy!) from
another model. A simple reason you might do this is if you are
modeling a custom pin to go in a hole. Instead of modeling the
pin as a 0.500" diameter, you could copy the geometry of the
hole (let's say it's a 0.510" diameter ) and make the pin
diameter by making a 0.005" offset of the hole.

This is the heart of skeleton (or 'master' to the SW crowd)
modeling. It allows you to capture your design intent (you
probably care much more about the clearance between the pin and
hole than their respective diameters).

As for dimensioning a surface freeform... if it is a purely
aesthetic surface then whoever is asking for tolerances should
reconsider. If it is a functional surface than you shouldn't be
using the style tool.

^^^^ That's my cop-out answer to your question, because I don't
know how you would dimension a free form.

Design-Engine's lattice structure is what you are
looking for

So it looks like there is a solution... I wonder under what
production circumstances such dimensioning is required?

I can articulate later. About to do a Pro/SURFACE presentation at the Central Ohio Pro/E user group. Chris Thomson from the forum is here today.

You cant dimension a isdx feature if its built only out of isdxcurves/surfs, since its "free form". What you can do is to use parametric curves and /or datumplanes that controll your isdx feature/curves , and in that way get some dimensions. But dimension the surface thats a freeform surf, no.

You do not dimension it because its freeform, you'll normally have something else in view to give a sense of scale. Are you saying that you style tool is greyed out?

My Style tool works fine, the problem is when i go to Drawing
i can't dimension nothing if i use Style tool and free form Skecth Lines

And i'm wondering.. if i can't produce\dimension that surface, why exist Style Tool ?

P.s soory for my bad english, i hope yu understand what i mean :\

you need to bound style curve and surfaces inside parametric sketches made outside of the style tool.when you're in style environment, use the "sketch tool" to draw rectangles and other dimensioned sketch entities, inside ISDX you can snap curve points and tangency handles to those dimensioned references.then when you change those dimensioned references, your style curves and surfaces updates too. watch this channel on youtube by designengine.

Style/Isdx exist because you might wants to create freeform geometry using surfaces

When you are about to manufacture a freeform geometry, then you will take the dims direct from the 3d model. iow,The cnc program will refer to the 3dmodell and not the drawing.
