Created balloons for simp rep views

Hi, I have a question regarding using created balloons from the model tree while doing a drawing and calling out parts so it is associated with view/model tree item. I just started with new company and will explain what the issue is and since no one knows the proper way to do it here, how the company goes around the issue. I am not familiar with this issue so I will try and be specific so please bare with me.

There is a BOM/PL in a table form on the drawing, weinsert a view on the drawing for a specific simp rep (not the master rep). We then get into setting a region for the table by doing the following;

SELECT INSIDE BOM/PL TABLE

GO TO AND SELECT TABLE AT TOP OF MENU SCREEN<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
SELECT BOM BALLOON FROM DROP DOWN MENU
SELECT SET REGION
SELECT INSIDE THE TABLE
SELECT OK
Now we are still in the drawing, go to model tree and select an item you want to add balloon for, right mouse button click and you should get option to ADD BALLOON. Problem is thatwe do not get this option using aspecific simp rep, ONLY when we have a view of the MASTER REP on the drawing.
How they have been getting around this, in my opion is not correct because it forces you to NOT USE SIMP REPS and I am telling people SIMP REPS are a great function to use and should be used. They have been dropping in their view on the drawing using the MASTER REP, then they go into VIEW/DRAWING DISPLAY/COMPONENT DISPLAY/BLANK (they go in and blank out 2D geometry/components they don't want to see in view) then they go in and andSET REGION FOR TABLE etc. so associated balloons get put in via the model tree.
Does anyone know if there is a way to add balloons via the model tree so they are associated to the view using a specific simp rep and not the master rep???
Any specific step by step instructions/help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance and time.

From what you are describing it sounds like youmay beshowing the master rep in the model tree even though you are working with the simplified rep. Select Show>Use Model in model tree and select a view that uses the simplified rep. Only the components included inthe simplified rep should show up. If other parts are still showing upselect Settings>Tree Filters and under Display make sure Excluded Objects is not checked.

I'ma little confused, as far as I know you can not set the balloon's to be created from the model tree. They have to be set by selecting a repeat region or your BOM, assuming it's a repeat region. Also, just because you have a view using a simplified rep doesn't mean the BOM will automatically setto that, it needs to be set manually. You can have an infinite amount of views displaying their own reps and have a BOM for each one.

Try using,

Table> Repeat Region> Model/Rep> Select the Repeat Region> Browse for the assembly> Select the Rep you want represented in the BOM

By the way, what you see in the model tree in drawing mode can depend on what you have currently set as the 'active' rep/model. File> Drawing Models> Set/Add Rep or Add Model or you can double click the "Model Name" or "Rep" at the bottom of the graphics window and change it there. Also, it depends on how you have your model tree filters set. You can choose to see excluded items. Guess what I'm saying is viewing the model tree in drawing mode doesn't help much.

Edit: I take that back, looks like you can add a model to a drawing individually from the model tree and show dims, still pretty limited.

Once you have set the region you are using to create ballons you can select a part in the model tree, right mouse click, and there should be an option to Create BOM Ballon. Here is a picture for reference.

The problem as I understand it is that the simplified rep has excluded components. When they select on a component in the model tree and then right mouse click the Create BOM ballon option is not showing. Thismakes me believe that they are selecting the component that is excluded. Since it is showing up in the model tree check to see if the Excluded Objects under the Tree Filters is selected. If it is it should be unselected so that only the parts that are in the representation show up. If they still show in the model tree it may be that there is more than one model orsimplified repin the drawing. For this you need to select a view that has the model or simplified rep you are trying to add ballons for so that it appears in the model tree. To do that use Show>Use Model in model tree. Otherwise when you select on a part in the model tree and right mouse click you won't see the Create BOM ballon option.

Oh ok, that makes sense. In the future, they should add the 'Status' column to their model tree sothey could see if the part they are selecting is inactive or not. Would take the guesswork out of it.

Jason and Kdem, Thanks for your replies on getting balloons on drawings in specific simp reps. We be looking at your ideas this week and hopefully get it to work. Thanks again for your replies.
