Dimension attachment on auxillary view

Hi everybody

Got a bit of a problem...

I have a circular 3D model (motorbracket)with 3 boltholes which are displaced by 30 degrees with respect to WCS. The holes are identical so I only want to display dimensions for one holes. To display the details of the hole I have made an auxillarypartial cross section through the hole. This gives a nice view of the details, and is in this particuliardrawing my only option to show the detail properly.

My problem is that the boltholes is drafted 1 degree. When showing dimensions for the draft feature, the dimension lines do not attach to theoutlines of the cross sectioned hole!! -This is of course due to the fact that the hole it self is displaced 30 degrees and that draft dimensions apparantly automatically 'attaches' to (or are displayed in)planes orientedas WCS.

I have had this problem many times with regular dimensions, and it is always solved by changing the dimensions, sketch plane or other things in the 3D model. This time though I have run out of good ideas... can anyone tell me how to change the plane to which a moulding draft dimension is attached/displayed??

My last resort is to add the dimension manually.. but I would prefer to avoid this.

Hope somebody has a good answer:)

Sorry

my last post didn't work out properly...

I have up-loaded 2 pictures:

picture one shows where the bolthole is located with respect to WCS or horizontal/vertical planes(displaced 30 degrees).

Picture 2 shows the partial and auxillary cross section through the bolt holes- You can see the draft dimensionlines are not attached to the outline of the bolthole - this is because of the 30 degree displacement. The draft dimensionlines are lined up with either the vertical or the horizontal plane. I could of course make a detail cross section that is either vertical or horizontal, but I belive an auxillary view would be the most correct way to do it, and besides I would really like to know if it is possible to change the dimension orientation of a draft.

I hope You can help me -

I assume that you don't want to have the draft dimension attached to the sketch as a note.

Have you tried doing the hole/revolved cut as a sketched section with the draft already included? I always used to do cored holes for taptite screws that way.

DB

You can include more than one picture per post. I put 2 in a post last night

Hi DB

Ok - good idea actually... That should do the trick for this part.

But I still would like to know if it would be possible to assign the draft dimension to a specifik plane in 3D mode:) Just because it would be nice to know:)

Thank You for the advice!
