Displaying weight of a Simplied rep

I was wondering if there was a way to display the weight of a simplfied rep in a drawing title block?


I currently have an issue with a drawing where I startedit from a Simp Rep. I go tocalculate the mass for the weight and it shows in the pop up box correctly but in my drawing format itdisplays the master rep's weight in the title block.


(relation for weight is currently weight=mp_mass("") and we use &weight in the title block, I even switched it to weight =pro_mp_mass just to see) We are on WF3 also.


I even took a stab out writing a relation for a mass_prop_1 (weight_rep=mass:FID_mass_prop_1) the saved feature in the mass prop box. it displayed the first time correctly butI adjusted the rep (took a piece out) and could not get it to update to the newweight.


I thought maybe I was on the right track but I could never to get it to consitantly update the weight.

this should be possible without any relations

First - before You add any view - You have to set global Simp Rep for drawing.

You do that by clicking on the name of listed Simp Rep at the bottom of drawing window.

When it`s done, Pro/E should take Mass properties from this represantation.

I thought I had done thatbut to make sure I started a new drawing. I set the assembly to the repI wanted prior to starting the drawing. I even setthe rep at the bottom of the screen as the global (which it was already but to make sure I did it again) prior to starting anything.


Sadly, the drawing title block still displays the master reps weight after I put in the format....


Is it possible that the drawing format or something is not set up correctly?

Seems like it is an issue for a long time... Wonder if there is any update on it?

After some further looking through those posts I added in the: force_upd_assem_mp_in_simp_rep (and set it to yes) in the config.pro.


I did a regen on the drawing and at first nothing happened. I regened it a second time and then theweight updated to the correct rep weight.


I went on to notice that I have to regen the drawing TWICE before the weight actually updated to the correct weight for whatever rep I was on.


Once I did this I had no more issues. Hope this helps

Simplified Reps are a mainly a display thing, whose primary function is large assembly management and is over used as an easy way to show what people want to show or not show. The legitimate method, if you want weights and such is to us family tables.
