Drawing Format

Hello,

I am trying to create a format that inputs some parameters automaticly. The parameters work on the first sheet when starting a new drawing using this format, but if I add a sheet it isn't the same. Is there any way i can keep all the sheets the same.

In the format file, you can create 1 sheet, which will make all sheets in a drawing the same.

Or, you can create 2 sheets, which make sheet 1 look like sheet 1 of the format and the additional sheets will look like sheet 2 of the format file.

The problem I am having is my custom parameters are prompted afterI add every sheet. Example: Customer: &customer As I start a new drawing using the format I am prompted to input "customer" so I do. Then I add a sheet and it prompts me to input again. Is there any way that i can use this prompt technique and only have to input the information once???

Create the parameters in the model or assembly that the drawing uses. This way every sheet that you add will get the parameter from the current model and you wont have to input it.

Exactly like Allan said. You don't have that parameter created in your part, so when you add the format it looks for that parameter. If it doesn't find it in your model itwill prompt you to enter it.

But that parameter you just entered when prompted was created in your drawing, it is a drawing parameter. So delete it and create the parameter in your models then add the format again.

or create a start drawing that uses that format and create the paramters needed to fill in the title block in the drw. that way the drawing paramters are seperate from the model parameters.

I think that you need to use the format as a template and then start a new set of drwarings using the empty with fomrat. When you use a format it only copies the geometry of the drawinrd sheet and not the paramters.

Definately create the parameters in the model/assembly, then every sheet in the drawing has the parameters loaded autumatically.

It's the way I've set up my drawing formats and saves a load of timenot having to re-enter the same information over and over again.

Yes, like kmetiuk pointed out create a template of drawing sheet save it as .frm file in the directory of your preference. Then very time you create a new drw. You just empty the format/ browse to directory is save in.
