The downside of that is it adds tolerances to every dimension on the drawing... You have to highlight them all, and change to nominal, then change just the ones you want to have tolerances back. It's a real pain, and I haven't found a better solution.

Loudreis: Why do you not show dim? This is one of the best features of .drw's. Makes the drawing interactive with the model.

You should set up the Toleranc_Display option in your drawing template. Then it will come up right for every thing. If the dimensions weren't created at Nominal, you shouldn't need to modify anything except those dimensions you want a tolerance.

If they were all created with a tolerance, you can select all the dimensions with a window and deselect those you wish to keep the tolerances. Then change it to Nominal.

As far as shown or drawing dimensions, I recommend using both. First priority is controlling the part. You need to control the part model sometimes differently than you control the drawing used for manufacturing.

I recommend using existing dimensions that can be shown in the drawing, then add other required dimension. No sense in doubling the work and information already contained in the part.

For arranging the dimensions, it's not any more difficult to arrange shown dimensions than it is drawing dimensions. Show appropriate dimensions by view using Preview and select the ones you want to keep. Use the Arrange dimensions and/or Snaplines to simplify the arrangment.

I have had few problems with Show Dim. Yes, you must rearrange the dims., however, that is required in any event. What ever floats your boat.

I have had the same problem with the spam message. Pain in the neck. I do a hilite/copy of what I write just to avoid the rewrite thing. Just remember, computers are our friends.

Not if you set the tolerance_mode to nominalin yourconfig.pro.
