Hiding layers in drawing

Hi all,

I'm working on an assembly drawing and I want to blank out a few cosmetic features that appear on one of the components. So I went down to the component level of the part that has the cosmetics and made a cosmetic layer for the features I wanted to hide in the assembly drawing. Then I went back to the assembly drawing and hid the cosmetic layer that I had created. Worked great. The only problem is that if I close the drawing and reopen it, the layer appears as unhidden and I have to manually hide it again. Any suggestions?

Ben,

Go back to the component level, blank your cosmetic layer, then save layer status, and save part. I would think that would do it.

Thanks Bob,

The problem is that the component is that it is used in multiple assemblies and drawings, so I don't want to blank out the cosmetic on the part level and check it back into the vault. I could create simplified reps to take out the cosmetics, but it sure seems like I should be able to use layers to accomplish this. Any ideas?

Set the drawing option Drawing_layer_overides_model to YES. This will allow you to blank/unblank layer for the entire drawing and/or each individual view.

Thank you Allan,

I'll have to try doing it that way in the future!I can seesome advantages.
