i would like to add tap size (metric) as a variable in fam. table (tap size and pitch varies) can i change tol type from one type to other symmetical to plusminus, and for holes change type of grade ie from H13 to H7 as a variable

No. I asked this question and that was the PTC answer.

What I did for multiple tapped hole sizes in a Ft was to add all of the sizes , then add them to the FT and turn the one on for the instance.

looslib you are way off the mark again with your replies.

Don't use the canned hole function to create a thread and hole as a single feature.

Drill your hole first by either using a hole or revolved cut as one feature, then add a cosmetic thread as a second feature. Pattern and Ref pattern as required. Create a variable called pitch and use that to drive the diameter of the drilled hole via

minor_diam = major_diam-pitch which is accurate enough for many metric threads.

and then add major_diam and pitch to the family table.

I have used this for years and all my hex nuts are created this way in a single family table.

While you can't change the tolerance type from a true visual symmetric tolerance to a plus minus, create the tolerance as a plus minus, add the tolerance values to the family table and for the symetric case make the values the same so the dimension will read + and - the same amount. Works for me.

Are the grades applied to a threaded or plain hole?
