how to create Drawing symbols with variable text

We are trying to do some drawings for a client (which will end up in Acad) which uses non standard view, section and detail title tags and we want to create drawing symbols that we can place and modify the text with out exploding the symbol

Create some text in the symbol, with a backslash before and after, eg:

\note

This will allow you to vary the text contained in the note.

You may also add a list of values (and limit to the list if you want).
