How to not print everything...

Hey, thanks for reading.

My user want to be able to put things (mostly notes) on a drawing that are not printed and also not exported to the pdf. Mostly comments related to engineering that none of the other parts of the company should have to deal with. Basically I thought I could give it the right color and it would not show (due to no pen mapping), but there is the default penmapping.

How do you go about to achieve this?

Even if you put the stuff on a layer and hide it, it still prints with the rest (although I'd rather not use layers for this)

Thanks

What about using a markup (File -> New -> Markup)? The disadvantage would be that it's a separate file, but that could also be an advantage to you.

Hi Jocke,

The way we do this is to use 3D notes on the model - then on the drawing these can be shown / not shown using the Show/Erase functionality.

Alternatively, we use a layer in the drawing - I'm interested in knowing why you'd rather not use a layer - this is exactly the type of function that layers should be used for.... You need to check how you are printing - hiddden layers in our system do not print, obviously assuming that the notes, etc are only on the layer to be hidden....

I never got the pen mapping to work in this way - and layers were definitely recommended.
