Hi All,

May I know how to set the values for the &variables?

For example &title, &drawn_by, etc

Also may I know why some of the default variables such as &todays_date didnt work in my drawing?

thanks,

newbie101

Right-click on the text of the variables, select properties, and alter the text style. "&todays_date" should have worked. Did you addthat variable to the format after you created the drawing that used this format? If so, it will not auromatically update. To update the format within the drawing, right-click any where on the drawing and goto "Page Setup". Double-click on the sheet you want to update, and select browse. Find your format and select OK. When asked to remove the tables, select "Yes to all".

Hi Appinmi,

When I right-click and select properties I get the tab for

"File Properties"

Drawing Models

Drawing Options

Tolerance Standard

Done/Return

Also I noticed that i cant select the text in my .drw file

( i.e. double clicking doenst select the text )

I'm able to select other text within the drawing, just not those I've included in the format I'm using

Thanks,

newbie101

Your text should be within a table, therefore, you need to select the table entity first, (The rectangle should turn red). Then right-click and goto properties. Or you could just double-click on the table entity. If your text is not in a table, and just placed as text on the format, I do not know of anyway to select it from within the drawing. You will have to change it by redefining the format.

Hi Appinmi,

Ok that explains it.

Hello newbie101 & appinmi,

I doesn't mean to 'correct' mistake but this is just a suggestion>>

The &title &drawn_by ... ... is actually the link to parameters.

If you have a format which contains these links, You should change the
value in the model's parameter. Just open ur 3D model, goto
tool>parameter and key in the value here.

These links in format are very important, it works for all your model.
So just put in the value in the parameters for ur model and the drawing
should be able to grab them.

The main objective of this is to fill up ur drawing title block automatically when u create a drawing.

Hopes this can help.
