Have used a sketch to define the trajectory for a protrusion cut around a diameter at the model level. At the drawing level, sketch dimensions are easily shown, but there are no centerline graphics for the dimensions to describe.
A picture would help. However, from what I could make out,
it is a Protrusion cut in an arc on a non circular
component. One can always sketch the centerline or get the
axis. Preferred way would be to define the axis in model
and then use it for the cut.
Use a cosmetic sketch to show the traj on the drawing.
When you do your cosmetic sketch, you canuse the command "use edge" and pick the curve in your "trajectory sketch". That way it will update if you change the trajectory.
Variation on a theme:
roll back the model by dragging the red arrow up to just before the feature.
add an axis to the model
drag the red arrow just below the feature.
edit the feature to reference the axis so they update together on further edits and regens
RT click the arrow and resume the model
clean up down stream failures if there are any.
go to drw and use show,axis by view.
With Pro E you must always be thinking about how you're going to do the drafting while you design, if done right you can fly through a print. If done without thought you'll be bouncing around making changes all over the place. Trust me I have made some big messes and had to do a fair amount of rework.

At the detail level, I'veused Sketch > Edge > Use > Offset. This allows me to copy offset the root of the ball mill operation. Offset defined as real offset/view scale.
Is there anyway to turn the model level sketch into an axis, even though it is curved? Edited by: bry593
Are you saying that planar sketch curve entities can be turned into a curved axis? That would be great! Then all I'd have to do is "show axes"on the detail drawing.
I also have several swept blends defined bycylindrical trajectory equations (3D).Is there a way to create an axis out of theseequation driven datum curves?
What I meant was different and was based on what I could imagine in the absence of a pic.
One can certainly show a sketch in the drawing and change its linetype to "Center", if that is what you mean by axis. For that matter, any datum curve can be shown as a line with linetype "Center". You may also want to explore the "Graph" tool, especially if you wish to define the profile as a graph measure. Insert --> Datum --> Graph.
