How to use Cable in drawings?

I am making complex cable routes in a layout assembly. These cables have loads of wires. Now a bug for me using Creo Cable is that when you have many wires that are the same but pitched apart, there is no pattern command so will take an eternity to do. So here I revert to using patterning a surface spine of a wire. Works well until you go to drawings. These surface splines show everywhere in the drawing. So to get around this I IGES out the cable and splines and make it all a solid. Then add this as a second file into the layout and have simplified reps pointing to this and not the original parametric cable harness model. It would be nice to just use the original parametric harness in the drawings.
