import jpg in drawing

RRRRR

New member
This is my first post.
Because I did not find any topic about importing jpg's in Pro/E 2.0 yet, herewith this issue as new topic.
I hope anyone can help me with importing a jpg image in a drawing, or if it helps I can convert to bitmap or tiff...?
Thank you in advance
Kind Regards.

Yes, open your jpeg in Paint and save it as a bmp. We sometimes do this with supplier drawings. I have not personally done this with say a photo. I 24bit bitmap may be kind of a large file and may slow things down when your working on the drawing with that image. I think you could get around this with layers or hiding.

Goedendag!

audctrl is correct about the BMP image. You can also read it into Paintbrush as well.

Be careful. I will display fine on the screen but if you sent it to a plotter, it may print out a filled-in black box. The plotter doensn't know how to handle an OLE object.

If you search "jpeg" in the drawing forum you will find this:

Open the jpg with paint>select all>copy.

In your drawing or format>insert>bitmap image.

You will see a white square agaist the black background. doubleclick in there and the paint program is able to receive data>ctrl v> click outside the box in the drawing> adjust proportions and size of your image. RMB on image>copy

Now go to format>symbol gallery>define>type a name for your symbol>a new background pops up. Edit paste>click on some point on your image in the window that pops up>click on the background topaste the image>done>in the symbol definition attributes that comes up click free>pick a point to be the insertion point for your symbol>ok>done

Now click write>type a directory name (no spaces, say C:\) disregard the message, say Yes to the prompt.

Now you can cut and paste the symbol to the directory you want it.

Hope this helps

If you looking to print your drawing, perhaps plot your drawing to a pdf using the MS Print Manager. I suggest the print manager because the plot to pdf inside of Pro works great for regular drawings but does not handle drawings with imported images in them.

How do I keep the aspect ratio the same as the original bitmap? The one I created using shankmaster's procedure can be stretched to any shape. It does not default to the original aspect ratio.

I got the bitmap into a symbol & it is visible when defining & redefining the symbol but it is not visible when placing the symbol in a drawing or format. What's up with that? I made it in WF2 but it behaves the same in WF4.
