Lego Racers! Hope you guys get a kick out of this. My class this week in Boston got together on their third day and pulled this off as a team.

buy this for twelve bucks at walmart or model it yourself.

pft :p
I love lego as a grown up....... !

can not wait till my kids can play with lego just so i can tag along!

still prefer higher Technics above all others

those Bionicle, street races(aimed to NFS players I suppse) are out of my scope of interest

It remains some empty place for Star Wars collectin, but that is all

I took a look some time ago at Technics offer - and IMHO those "boxes" introduce to much detailed models to construct. Seems the only goal to buy them is assmbling this stuff up and put at the shelf for a nice look. This is not my way...

I loved to construct all from simple truck to crane...

Don't take your legos from you girls... that's my though for the number one way to make engineers out of the young girls in your family.

As for the new legos, this is the first time in some years that I looked at them this close. I still like the good old fashion blocks, but these fenders and other parts can get you thinking of other configurations which is healthy for young minds.

Legoe are what got me interested in designing and building stuff. We had tons of them as kids.

My girls have plenty also, and I'm always picking up more at garage sales.

We built some pretty big castles last night.

Most of the new sets are too specific. No imagination needed. They're either Star Wars, Pirates, or whatever. I like the generic blocks, and pieces that you make into whatever you want.

I do still love playing with them, and wouldn't mind getting into the mindstorms and techniqs as mygirls get older. ( 3 and 6 right now.)

Legos, one of those things you pass down to your children. That way you can still play with them an nobody things your wierd.

Great job DE.

Man I need to get a job where I can design Legos and then of coarse there's testing.......

I love Legos, but my girls haven't gotten into them. They were into those girly 'Legos', what were they called? Made by Lego I think but curvy girly shapes.

My nephew (now a Freshman in HS)is into them big time. He's got several Technics sets and Star Wars sets and buckets of standard blocks. He mixes and matches all the pieces into lots of different forms. He was on a Lego Robotics team for a while until his team got too competitive & time demanding a few years ago. The next year his former team won the international competition!

that digital Lego tool is a great idea for kids and adults alike.I added that to the notable section to design engine. Thanks

Somehow Lego has never managed to get girls intrested. They tried different things, but it looks like this is a boys toy. Well, we're not born equal. That's the major misunderstanding in the feminist movement : equal rights doesn't mean equal humans.

As for Lego, if they would get girls intrest they'd have twice the customer base.

Just like you playing with My Little Pony eh mate

EDIT : Oh I wish I had time to play with that Digital Lego builder hehe, playing with lego was always so peaceful, that is until I pushed my car or whatever down the stairs

Pay a visit to Legoland. I took my wife and2 kids there in August for a few days. The things they can do with Lego is amazing.

My credit card took a hammering when we visited the Lego shop

. So many cool Technic Lego sets, I just couldn't refuse. The car was stuffed on the way back to Ireland.

Apparently Lego produce the highest number of tyres in the world!!

Alex, they did have some sets for girls, kinds horsie things. Wasn't quite the same though. My daughter loves Lego though, she plays with the Lego City kits.

+Not using Top Down Design
These WF4.0 parts to this model were modeled by different users without using a measuring tool and put together into an assembly. As you can imagine some of the geometry does not fit appropriately.

+Challenge I
Your challenge is to put the geometry together into an assembly and modify the appropriate part geometry so there is no interference and appropriate clearance. Measuring centerline to centerline a distance from one snap post to another should be .25"

+Challenge II
Once the parts all fit together into an assembly, Create an exploded view of the geometry and create a view in an assembly. The exploded view should communicate to someone who can put the Legos together. In engineering we call this an exploded view. Create a Bill of Materials using a drawing table complete with 'item no' 'quantity' 'part number' and 'description'. Practice renaming parts in the assembly.

Ello was what those 'girly' Legos were called. Maybe they still make them. Pastel colors, swoopy shapes, etc. They were pretty cool, I thought.

When my family was at Disney inFlorida,we visited the Lego shop at Downtown Disney and saw some amazing Lego structures. They had a Lego monster in the lagoon that was pretty cool. They had an oversized model of a simple Lego model made from Legos. Think of making a 100x Lego brick out of Lego bricks and then using the 100x bricks to make something.

Took that family down there this summer also. That sea monster was awesome! Spent a lot of time in the lego shop because it was 95 deg out and they had the air jets on full blast in the back doorway.

Hey Bart, can you upload your pro-e models for the lego car? It looks cool and I'd like to see it in Pro-e. Not too sure what your modeling challenge is please explain.
