legos....

In a weird coincidence,I found my girls playing with Ello last night when I got home. Very girly, but pretty cool building toy:

that space robot is probably created using Maya. Notice the diffused phong shading. Could be 3d Max as well.

I went to Target for lunch today and purchased more toys for the class. Now the students can go back to complain that at design engine they made them play with Legos.

I got a magazine through to work the other day. It's called Develop 3D.

There's a Lego article in it. The magazine can be downloaded as a PDF.

Web address is http://develop3d.com/and download the September issue.

Apparently since 2001 when Bionicle figures first appeared, more than 150million bioicle beings have been born. And I think most of the female bionicles frquent my local pub

No Bart... All my Pro-E is done at the office. Figured this Lego thing might be fun to do with the kids... at least my 6 year old anyway. It was frustrating trying to get the legos oriented correctly... I'll play with it again sometime and get better with it before letting the kids help.

Kristina, one of our three week students took the parts from a previous post and added a few to create this next Lego racer. She has to create a detail drawing of the assembly and create the BOM and make a nice exploded drawing so her son can build the lego racer from her detail drawing.

She could not post this herself due to a problem with activation.

Yea... thanks for the table drivin family table. Paul (bugzuki) is a CAD manager with a major manufacturer where we during a class experimented with creating the lego parts and building an assembly. The challenge was that each person in the group model one or two parts without using a measuring tool. Some LEGO parts were guessed to be metric while other dimensions were guessed to be in inches. As you can imagine the parts came into the assembly all different sizes. The class of experienced engineers (some of which were experts in other software programs like Solidworks and cocreate) watched as I systematically modified part sizes and used a drawing as a design tool to make my assembly of parts ready for tooling.

Show us your bugzuki Paul!

I am having trouble with the lego racer car assembly drawing. I successfully got the repeat region to work for item no, qty, and part no. There is a parameter in the part that is labeled 'description' though. How do I access that with the repeat region variables. They are so difficult to figure out.

ITEM NO: REPORT INDEX
QTY: REPORT QTY
PART NO: ASSY MEMB NAME
DESC: ?????

Oh... by the way. I need a job.
