numeric parameter designators...

How do you determine the source for a parameter designator? as an example- we have the &descrption:xxxx designator in the big box of our title block- how do I determine the designator for a specifc part/assemply, etc, so I can change the numerics and specify the correct description.

Within the context of drawing or assembly; Tools / Relations / Show / Session ID.

(Really wish there was an easier way.)

I don't know if this is pertinent, but you can also use something like &model_name or &part_number (a user param) and it will return the value from the active drawing model. (Check that out; think there are some quirks to using the system param.)

If you have a dimension, gtol, parameter, etc. shown in the drawing for the particular part/assembly then just toggle dimension display to symbolic and you will see the session ID.

say I have multiple models, with instances, shown in a multi-sheet drawing. I want to specify the description parameter on a specific sheet, fora specific part- how do I determine that model or assemblys designator. thanks.

I'm not very sharp on this stuff, but...

Session ID is constant; e.g. not sheet dependant.

It's not always necessary to indicate the Session ID. I have, for instance, a view label symbol that simply has &dash_num &nomenclature ("dash_num" equates to part number, not rpt region "dash item"). It picks up the parameter values of the drawing active model when placed. (I've placed plain notes the same way. When editted I've seen that Pro/E has appended the Session ID, I think. I'm not sure how that might be translated to your situation; the notes are already in place?).

Family table instances: I think I've seen documentation floating around but have never attempted to work out the procedures.

"Instances": Maybe I misinterpretted that to mean Family table instance? If so; all (not family table) instances of a part share the same Session ID.

Hope that doesn't just increase the fog's density...

As long as you have any dimension or parameter already shown for that model just toggle dimension display to symbolic & you will see the session ID. That number is specific to that particular model in that drawing, it will not change from sheet to sheet.

I have a model with a family table of components. There are different drawings assigned to each one of the Instances. I would like to assign different values for Material/Density to each of the components so whereas it shows on the drawing and calculates the weight. I don't have a problem with the weight calculation, but I do have a problem with showing different densities for each.

Every time I change the value of the Density in the Family Table and regenerate the drawing it reverts back to the value of density input in the generic model. I have created a column and added "DENSITY" to the Family Table, and have changed the values, but I cannot seem to make them different than the generic upon regeneration.

Do you know a way around this?????
