Odd-ball dimension

I am detailing a ring (doughnut) with a complex outer surface. I
am detailing the outer surface using a detailed view of the cross
section. I am told by my supervisor that pro/e allows one create
a dimention of the diameter despite my inability to see the other side
of the x-section because of the section view.



it sounds complicated, i know; but can one dimention a diameter of a cross section about a "false" centre axis?
