Offset Cross Section in Wildfire 5.0

Shafted

New member
Hi everyone,

I have problem creating offset cross section in part mode
while using wildfire 5.0. For some reason it goes through
all options fine but when references dialog box is supposed
to pop up so I can select references for offset cross
section it doesn't pop up.
I don't have a problem creating offset cross section in
assembly mode because references dialog box pops up.
Anyone knows what is the problem here? Am I doing something
wrong or is it possible that this is a bug?

I think you have to select the tab "Layout" first and then double click on the hatch to change the offset.

I think I didn't explain well what is the problem. There
are two options for creating section, one is section
through a plain & the other one is with offset. In other
words if I want to create a section through few different
holes which are not going through same section plane I
need to use offset section to one or both sides. But once
& select orientation plain & sketching plane there should
be a reference window that pops out where you can add
additional references for the section line to go through.
This window pops out while doing offset section in
assembly mode but not in part mode.
This is a first time im using wildfire 5.0, didn't have a
problem with this in previous versions of wildfire.

be careful how you use the term 'offset cross section' For example, what does a cross section look like through a cylinder with three evenly spaced holes where the first hole is at 0 and the second hole is 120 and the third at 240... That cross section that goes through two of the holes is an 'offset cross section' I presume you mean to offset a datum plane and that's what you mean offset cross section.

From a drafting standpoint what you describe is an aligned section although in ProE you create it using the offset section selection. What I call the classic example of an offset section is a block with three holes in it where they don't line up so a plane passes through all three. An offset section is defined by creating a cutting plane that passes through all three of them so they are displayed in a cross-section.

For the original post you should be able to get to the references dialog box by selecting the references icon on the sketcher toolbar (may need to add it from the customize screen dialog), going to the Sketch drop down menu, or right mouse menu in WF5.
