Parametric symbols

Can anyone please help me on how to create a space confined parametric symbol.

my parameter value is a part no. say 207-70-K1950

I need to show this in a BOM baloon, where in it should come as 207-70

K1950

i.e BOM baloon is to show values in two halves. Upper half should have first 5 digit and lower half should have rest.

All i can do with Proe wildfire 3 is to show whole value in a single line, which isn`t good enough.

You can create parameters extracting portions of your
parameter. Then, create a custom symbol to read those
parameters and set it to drive your balloons.

Use extract function:

parameter1=extract(parameter,1,7) (extracts first 7 digits)

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot for the solution.

I could create individual parameters using extract function, now the problem is since these baloons are BOM table driven, How do i use these parameters in a bom table in single coloumn.

parameters created are as per following relation:

part_number_1=extract(part_number,1,6)
part_number_2=extract(part_number,8,5)

Now since the part number column has a single prameter i.e. asm.mbr.part_number, how do i use the above created parameters in my BOM table so taht i can use them on BOM baloon.

Already went through that, its really a good one.

Thanks.

again something out of this context,

can we create a mapkey to add relation to all individual partsof a assembly.

If yes please elaborate the procedure.

thanks in advance.
