Problem redefining offset section.

PRStockhausen

New member
I have an assembly that at one time had a offset cross section named "F". As the design progressed, components or features used to define "F" were deleted and the crossection became undefined. :"F" does not show up in the view-manager, but when I try to create a new section "F", I am told there is a section of that name. How can I delete, rename or redefine "F"?

Title
X-sections can not be shown or modified after modifying features. Error message (#show;): 'The reference section for this cross section was deleted or suppressed. Cross-section could not be created.'

Details
Additional Information

Description
-----------------
X-sections (cross sections) can not be shown or modified after modifying features.
Error message when selecting #show; or #modify; :
'The reference section for this cross section was deleted or suppressed.
Cross-section could not be created.'

Alternate Technique
-----------------
See resolution

Resolution
-----------------
The X-section is suppressed and needs to be resumed. X-sections - like regular features - are inserted into the feature tree at the 'Insert' mark, when they are created. However, in contrast to regular features, X-sections are 'invisible' features, that not displayed in the model tree. Hence they cannot be directly selected in the tree, but nevertheless they can be suppressed or resumed.

Possible actions that suppress X-sections are (but are not limited to) :
- Setting Insert mode marker before a regular feature that precedes the X-section
- Suppress parent feature of the X-section (causing the prompt: 'Select option for the child in blue.' with no blue displayed)
- X-section has been created in a part instance

Possible actions to resume suppressed X-sections:
- #Resume;#Last Set; (if applicable) or #All; - this may require manually suppressing other features that are resumed with that action - if the resolve mode comes up, select #Fix Model;#Feature;#Suppress;
- Get the ID of the X-section from 'Info' "Feature List', then use #Resume;#Feat ID; and enter the ID.

Title
An Offset Cross-Section Cannot Be Redefined If It's References Get Deleted.

Details
Description

If the references used to create an offset cross-section are deleted, the cross-section will fail and report, "x-section needs to be re-defined". When trying to redefine the the cross-section, the redefine button is grayed-out.Resolution

This issue will be resolved in a future release of Pro/ENGINEER.Alternate Technique

The only workaround is to delete and re-create the cross-section with new references.

When I looked at my assembly, the resume button was greyed out. Icreated a point and suppressed it. Section F was not resumed and I still can not rename a section to F. (It is not very important to use the name F, I am just being a bit stubborn. Thanks again Vlad
