Rename dimensions?

dear all,

probably a stupid question, but I am really stuck.

I have a rather complex sketch, ruled by a number of dimensions. when I change some parameters of the sketch I always have to regenerate 3/4 times before achieving the desired sketch.

I assume the reason is because I have relation such as
sd24=function(sd40)
and therefore sd40 has to be updated from other rules in order to achieve the correct profile at the end.
Is this assumption correct?

Now I start to panic, as I was thinking about re-editing all the dimension in the model, and therefore having the possibility to achieve my profile just with 1 regeneration.
Is there any way to reediting the name of the dimensions instead, so that the relations can be updated more efficiently?

For your answers thanks in advance,
Edo

Edo,

Sketcher dimensions cannot be renamed. However you may be able too solve your issue by ordering your dimensions the way they should be evaluated.

This way you will have a value updated before it is used on the
right side of an equation. I believe there is a sort relations icon in the relations window.

I first tried to put the relations in the part I was modelling.

I realized then the problem with the relation sequencing.

In addition I want to copy paste this sketch to perform a multiple sketch, and if the relations are inside the sketch is way more handy to be handled...

Do you know a method in the part to rename/handle dimensions?

thanks
Edo

If the relation could be put at the feature level for the sketch the dimensions could then be renamed. When you copy the sketch the relations are copied similarly to the relationbeing inside the sketch. To rename a feature or part dimension select the feature RMB>Edit, select the dimension name you want to change and select RMB>Properties, and select the Dimension Text tab and change the name.

Thanks kdem for your prompt answer.

I am using a localized version of ProE, so I can not find the RMB... can you kindly guide me to it?

sorry for the dumbness...
Edo

Sometimes forget someone might not know what the abreviation stands for when you have used it so much, RMB = right mouse button.
