SETTING DEFAULT DTL FILE

I want to set a dtl file to be the default file when a new drawing is created. I have set pro_dtl_setup_dir to where pro/e launches from. Also I have set drawing_setup_file= to the file I want as the default. But it does not work. I have confirmed that the config file where the above settings are placed is being read. I am running WF2.0 with Intralink 8.0. In my config file the setting drawing_setup_file has a symbol that resembols a magic wond (what does that mean?). That is the only setting in that file that has that. The name of the dtl file has no spaces.

Are you using templates or start drawings?


The dtl settings is stored in the drawing file and read from file only when creating a complete new drawing from scratch (might not be completely right here but it is not updated unless you ask for it anyway).


So, if using templates, you must open those drw's and apply the dtl settings manually and save them again.

Yes we are using templates. I neverthought about the templates already having a dtl file related to them.


Do you know what the "magic wond" in the config file means?

The wand icon is for options being applied to next object cretated, eg. a default layer, units and the dtl-file
Lightning icon is effective immediately
Screen icon is effective upon next proe session started
Red icon is for invalid options

create a new drawing template and imbed the .dtl file you want in it. Create new drawing ans use this template. This way you will not need .dtl file.

Just create a dtl file and save it to your desktop and make drawing_setup_file = name of your dtl file (only name) when ever u want to create a folder for new project just copy that file into that folder. Whenever u wanna make new drawing even with or without template WF just search for dtl file in working dir and relate your drawing to it and you will happy
