Specify UOM in title block?

Hello all,

I'm in the United States, and I have been trying to Google the answer to my question with no luck so far. My question is: Am I required to specify what unit of measure I'm using, say, in the title block or somewhere else on the drawing? I've been trying to find the ANSI standard on this subject, but I have no found it. Where I work, use inches as the standard and do not specify on the drawing. However, when units need to be in milimeters we specify "mm" after each dimension. Is it acceptable to not specify that units are in inches, or should I suggest to my company that we put that somewhere on the title block?

We just say:

DIMENSIONING AND
TOLERANCING IN
ACCORDANCE WITH:
ASME Y14.5M-2009
ASME Y14.41-2003
[COMPANY] STANDARDS

In our company standards document, we specify dimensions to be ininches unless specified as something else on the drawing.

If you don't specify units after dimensions there should be a note on the drawing specifying the units. The time you would need to specify dimension units on a dimension is when both units appear on a drawing. So if you have a drawing that is mainly dimensioned in inches use inches in the general note and specify the units mm for metric dimension values. The reverse is true for metric dimensioned drawings. In that case us mm in the general note and specify in (inches) for englishdimension values.

What we do is in the title block where the tolerances are defined make a note: Drawing is in Inches.

If dual units are defined we add a note in the notes list that says: ALL DIMENSIONS ARE IN INCHES [MM]
