True position

in drawing views we are givine some box dimension....also we are denoted as true position......it means what....where we will use that box dimension....

what do you mean by box dimension. may be you are referring to basic dimension.


if you have some basic dimension in your drawing then it will refer to the profile tolerance provied at your note with respect to datum A,B and C.

There are two occasions when the dimensions are boxed. One when associated with a Position tolerance (geometric tolerances) and when the dimension is for inspection (Pro/E uses Boxes for marking inspection dimensions).


This is more a technical question than a Pro/E question.


Since you are from India, please refer to IS - 8000; 3 or 4 parts. This sould not only clear your doubts but also enhance your knowledge on geometrical tolerancing.
