Very good rendering .... Any comments ....

Ok Sunil

I have read replays and view images several times from you start it. Especially on web site where is main competition. There

That top image is a Pro/CONCEPT rendering submitted by the then PLM for Pro/CONCEPT It uses the same rendering engine that regular Pro/ENGINEER wildfire uses with more complexity written into the interface. What PTC does for the parametric constraint modeling Alias Studio and MAYA do for procedural textures. Pro/CONCEPT is the first PTC product to dig a little deeper into that impressive rendering engine licensed out of England. (If anyone is interested I can forward the URL but for now I don't recall the domain or the name of the company.) That is one can modify numbers to vary depth and width of leather textures. Change one variable from 3 to 7 and the leather rip gets wider. Change another variable and the frequency of the ripples increases or decreases. Imagine when in a future release of Pro/E you can procedurally map Mold Tech textures. Who knows, maybe in the future PTC will even loose the rendering room.

I am actually the editor of Design-engine.com and I am quite happy to see this forum mentions this third annual rendering competition. For a complete listing of the entries -> http://www.design-engine.com/competition/2003photorealentries.htm My favorite entry the one from Vietnam.

Another interesting event was called 48tofly and takes place each year in the Fall. A real think than this group of mid to SR industrial designers. http://www.design-engine.com/stories/48toflylive2.htm All the renderings were created using Pro/E Wildfire and Photolux by industrial designers who have never touched Pro/E before. Thanks to Redbull, PTC, HP and we at proetools.com for this one.

I have been doing ID for the past 15 years and I have found Photo render to be extreamly lacking in features and control. I use 3D Studio Max and have been for all of those 15 years. I use pro for all my modeling and Max for all my renderings. I can do a rendering like the one here in about an hour. It would take you half that time just to get the room adjusted in pro. I do use a 3rd party translator to get models from pro to max. I have been complaining to PTC that photo render needs a major facelift in usability and functionality.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Have you tried Photolux in Wildfire, I would interested in your opinion of it.

I tried very briefly.

http://www.design-engine.com/stories/wildfire/concept003.jpg modeled and rendered Pro/CONCEPT. The rendering engine in Pro/CONCEPT is the same as the one in Wildfire except the interface developers dug a little deeper into the code. It is all basically Ligthworks -> http://www.lightworkdesign.com Really good stuff too I might add! In a past post I talked about managing color, depth and frequency of the ripples in leather for example.
