Is there a way of making a projected view independent of the parent view, so that the parent viewcan be deleted?

In the properties of the projected view. unselect the "align view to another vies" in allignment option.

select the projection view , right click, and then change TYPE to general. And then you will be able to delete the parent view without deleting the projection (now general view).

If you just unalign the view when you delete the parent you delete the child also.
