Weirdest ghost problem ...

Hello,

I have a part and it's drawing locally on my HD. I want to import it into Intralink. When I try to import it in to Intralink I get 'retrieval error' messages, claiming some referenced parts are missing, that I have never even edited or had my HD!
Now for the weird part:

I CAN import the .prt without problems, also the globalref viewer shows no missing dependant parts, but the .drw somehow CANNOT be imported. So for some reason ProE has relations in the drawing that are not in the part itself.
Even weirder is that I CAN import the original unmodified drawing into the workspace without error messages!
I only changed some geometry in the part and did not modify or create refences to other parts, so where on eartgh do these references suddenly come from in the .drw file?
The drawing has no unused models loaded into it, it has just one part in it. I'm at a loss. Does anyone have an idea what might be the cause of this weird problem?

What do you mean by import?

You should add it to your workspace in Intralink like this:

Open a PRO-E session from Intralink.

View attachment 3070

Then open the drawing in PRO-E and save it.

Now all the the information is saved into your workspace.

You, now, should see your part and drawing as new objects in Intralink.

Hello vlad1979,

I wrote it a bit unclear, but I did exactly that. I opened ProE in the workspace. Then when I open the .drw from within ProE I get the error messages. So it's even before actually saving it in the workspace.

I do not get the error messages when opening the .drw in a stand-alone ProE without using Intralink.

How did you create the part & drawing ? They were made as new or as a duplicate or a mirror in an assembly?

Or maybe you used 2 versions of PRO-E !?!

I just did the same thing and it's all fine, the part and drawing open fine.

Try to open the part first then the drawing.

Check the drawing models and see if there are more than just the one for the associated part. If this drawing was duplicated maybe there are more than one part referenced in it. CHeck the part to see if any features are referencing another part for it's location.

Hello,

@vlad1979: The part and drawing were from an intralink export from a customer. First I edited the part, then I updated the drawing, all using a stand-alone config (without using Intralink).

@markp: I already checked, but both part and drawing contain no references to other (nonexistent) parts.

Anyway I got rid of the problem: With the error message I chose the option to delete the missing references. I got a warning that this could cause problems if the missing references are actually used in the drawing, but since I now was quite sure they were not, I simply confirmed deleting them.
After that the drawing and part worked normal again without any problems anymore!

Somehow, because of my changes to the part some old references to other parts (which already did not exist anymore before I even started changing the part) suddenly got found by Intralink. Since they were only 'mentioned' internally in the drawing but not actually used I could safely delete the references as I wrote.

Weird it is, but I'm glad it works now!

Thank you all for your help!
