Why is ProE so slow????

Making drawings of somewhat larger assembly is going terribly slow.

Using "show-erase" is almost not possible, and a generation takes 15-30 min. In assembly mode there,s no problem, but as soon as I want to put a view in a drawing, things get so slow. Allways using "no hidden" lines.

system specs: HP xw8200 64bit, Windows XP-pro 64

ProE WF2 date codeM220

Anybody some ideas how to improve this speed ?

Here is 1 thing that can help!
When you regenerate a drawing you are regenerating the entire assembly model once for every view that is on that drawing. If you turn off all views except the one you are working it will only regenerate that view.

This will erase view (not delete)
VIEW - DRAWING DISPLAY - DRAWING VIEW VISIBLITY -ERASE VIEW

Use te same pic's to resume views as needed!

you can use drawing representation to simplified your drawing.
tools > drawing representation

>>drawing representation concepts is similar to part and assembly simp rep. It helps you to manage the loading objects memories<<

or alternatively, if you would like to go for WF3, WF3 drawing performance has increase a lot (more than 50% faster for complex drawing)

You may also try blanking layers for solid geometry so Pro/E doesn't
have to show the lines in the views. Although Wire frame is the
easiest view to display due to the fact that hidden lines display
doesn't have to display different line colors or hide lines. With
layers blanked Pro/e will not display any lines and the dimensions can
be shown/erased more quickly and you don't need AAX license. You can
use clean dims to make sure you don't have dimensions on top of your
views later.

Give the blanking layers option a try and let us know if that helps.
Erase view is a good option for views you are not using but by hidding
the solid or surface layers you will still be able to show and move
dimensions.
