If PTC sent out surveys to customers on what they were planning on removing in the Next Version and what they are thinking on adding it would reduce the number of users dissatisfied with what they "F" up by removing usefull functionality and adding useless functionality.
Unigraphics does this and I would always fill out their surveys telling them which of their improvements I thought would be helpful by rating them in the surveys.
I used to work in Quality Assurance at PTC while they were still doing a good job of it. Now that 3d CAD is getting a lot more competitive in bringing the newest functionality and extras, it seems more companies are interested in speed of development to get the first functionality first and not the highest quality features when they are stable. Catia has always released its software with functionality that was still in the idea stage and not the Actually Functioning stage. Rule of thumb was start using functionality of of a Release 3 or so versions later V5 R12 would eventually start to be stable in V5 R15 .
Initial releases of any software is really a way for PTC or any other company to get some Guinea Pigs to test the software by paying for the privilege instead of PTC paying for people tho test it. I'm going to try out the WF4 free trial first and test it out. I fully expect to find a ton of bugs that I would have found if I was working at PTC if they had re-hired me after graduation. At least I don't have to feel guilty about problems that they fail to find as they always do in their software.
