axis point? What happened to that?
Similar to the centerline, there is Geometry Point,
which creates an axis, and a Point, which does not.

The geometry point creates a datum point not an axis
perpendicular to the sketch plane like axis point used to
do.

Geometry centerline, creates an axis in the sketch plane,
and again not perpendicular to it.

hmmm honestly i didnt think anything was wrong with the old axis points and centre lines... now I have Geometry versions to choose from instead... not sure if thats a step backwards !

I use a lot of centerlines as construction references inside sketches, I don't know what will happen if I needed these in a revolve feature, where one of the centerlines is used as a revolve axis. Anyway, I don't seem to find many uses for having a centerline that becomes an axis, if not for revolve features...

Yeah paolo I use centrelines within the sketcher environment too, having geometry versions may make things complicated lol.

where abouts in Italy are You ? I recently came back from a holiday in Sardinia and Rome and I miss them both so much already !!

Official response from PTC regarding the dashboard :

""
"Unable to move the dashboard below the graphics screen"
<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
After further investigation, it has been determined that the functionality you are looking for is not currently part of the application specification.

I work in Milan but I'm from Mantova (Mantua in English maybe?), which is a small city full of art and monuments... Sardinia has a wonderful sea, and Rome sure is a city that speaks history and art from every single stone :) You still have to check pizza and bab

All that says is that they cannot find where you should be able to. Well, it was clearly part of WF1-WF4, was it intentionally removed or is it just broken?

If it's a big deal to you, ask to see the documentation where it was to be removed. If it was truly intentional, they should be able to produce it.
Sketcher now give you a warning before your sketch blows up:

That's nice.

Week & a half and my pro/e session has only crashed once. Things seem more stable in this release at least.

As far as I know the option to have the dashboard at the bottom has been removed for workflow optimization purposes, or something like that. I used to like the dash at the bottom, but I'm now working with it on top and it's not so bad, you get easily used to it, although I found it easier to spot when it showed at the bottom...

In WF2-4 when you right click query an item, there is a
text listing of the selected item at the bottom left of the
screen - there doesn't seem to be a listing in WF5 F000.

Anyone else have this problem - bug or new feature ?

Its not in C000 either so I guess its a feature!

Had my first crashes with WF5 today. In sketcher mode. Trying to figure out how to apply radii / diamtrical dimensions, once i tried to apply them it went boom and pro-e dissapeared

Tried again after re-boot and its ok.

Quite annoying having the file menu system over on the left hand side !!!

I am not a fan of this either, the tooltip is much slower
than the old lower left indicator for what item is
preselected

You might be able to speed the tool tip delay up with
TweakUI.

Having no tooltip is like driving blind, why on earth would
they remove it - there cant be anyone at PTC that use ProE
!

In previous releases I gave the dashboard at the top a chance and actually started to like it after a short time. I eventually changed it back to the bottom though because I couldn't stand the model tree being covered up all the time.

Someone suggested to put the Model tree on the right side so that doesn't happen (thanks for the suggestion) so I might give that a try, but it may take some time to get used too...<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Too bad they took away the option todecide!

I have been using it on the top for a while now, and although I am getting used to it.... i still prefer it at the bottom!

Why can't they stop it from hiding the model tree wherever it is? We still get trouble with the menu manager occasionally, but surely they could sort the dashboard out properly? I've never quite seen the point of overlapping windows generally. Most of the length of the dashboard remains unused anyway, why not use that? Or at least adjust the model tree to prevent the overlapping.

You can change the location of the model tree in config.win so the dashboard menus don't get in the way anymore. I've got it on the right side and it's a lot better over there. Also, there is a config.pro option to dislodge it completely from the pro/e window so you can move it anywhere.
