Modelling Competition 2006 - Suggestions.

That's my point for assigning a specific modeling time - some peoplehave much more time to spend on this than others. I'm with Taz, 2 hrs/day is more than I can put in, more like 5 hrs/week at best.

Here's another twist... we could have two contests at once... onewith 20 hours modeling time in 2 weeks and onewith 10 hours in 4 weeks! The possibilites are endless!

From my experiences with competitions, you donot want to put an hour limit on a contest due to the simple fact that sadly you cannot trust everyone to follow the guidelines for an hour limit. Plus, with an hour limit you will see unfinished models. With a given time period likely all models will be finished. I know that i'm not gonna spend 20hrs on a model to post the final images of it not done because I ran to the end of the alloted hour limit.

No hour limit. Only days or weeks.

Your are right Piotrowski.

The time limit must be practical so every body can make a model within time even he is an expeireanced or novice. Other wise the people will making bluff about time and no body can do anything here. First of all the model limitations must decide, after that on the basis of that u can finalize the time limit. What about a mobile phone housing (complete), or a telephone set with receiver etc etc.

Do you think people in committee dont work anything? Those people also very hard think, talk, chat and all others about all those topics and much more other, which you even, didn

Speling, we know you and the other organiser will be very busy with the competition and working hard to make it perfect. We are all just eager to see what progress you have made and we are all excited to hear about the competition

Keep up the good work and keep us informed with little details if possible.... just to keep the carrot dangling infront of the rabbit !

Speling,

You seem to be quite offended that people would offer their opinions on this contest - that's what this thread is for. This is not "your" contest so don't be so possesive. I dont' think anyone is trying to "influence" the committee. Speaking for myself, I was only adding a suggestion regarding modeling time. I had not seen it discussed seriously and I still think it's a good solution to a problem. Don't be offended by others suggestions - it's your choice whether to acceptthem or not - they are just that, suggestions, not commands. Anyway, how are we supposed to know what the committee is discussing!?

Also, why do you believe that othersthink the committee is not doing anything - that has neer been said. Based upon your previous posts in this thread, I believe that you are working diligently to make this a success andI appreciateyour effort.

I will continue to offer my suggestions and opinions as I feel led and I wish youthe bestin working out the details of this contest.I hope to participate if I can.

Burnsp, I hope you haven`t scared him off hehe

Speling, any further news ? We are being looked after by Zaki at the moment, he seems to be coming up with small challenges to stop us from being bored

Give a guy some authority and it goes straight tohis head. Speling, your like some politicians I know. You get voted in to represent the people, but after your in you tell everybody to shut up.

The way it should have been done is, have the committee posts read only and then have a separate related thread for comments. That way everybody will know what the hell is going on.

speling your a hard dude to follow sometimes

microsoft word has a grammar checker in it check it out sometime

anyway is this competition limited to just using pro-e or is solid works, catia, inventor, etc people invited too?

ice8, Pro-e only. I hope we agree on that !! There are already plenty of 3DS, Alias etc competitions available on the web and afterall, this is a Proe forum

Speling, thanks for the update. Dont take things too personally my firend, and remember, this competition was intended to be quite simple but it seems that the " Board of Directors
smiley36.gif
" that you have formed intend to make this quitea serious competition and this will obviously take much more thought and working on a correct procedure is now very important indeed.

Keep working on it and let us know any progress you make, im sure regular updates will keep most of us happy. I wish you all the luck in the world in getting the support and coverage that you are looking for.

Stay positive dude !!

Speling,

You talk about comments being noise to you because things get mentioned that seem too, front end simple. You talk about all this stuff you and the group have to come up with and figure out. It's just seems to me, instead of closing the committee thread to only the committee is absurd. You want constructive ideas, solutions and yet you close everybody out that might have an answer. What you have here is people who want to help and when they try, with little to no information, you call it noise. Well.....UP YOURS pal.

If a competition doesnt start soon, I will be hosting my own. This has gotten way out of hand. People just want to model. Send me a PM expressing your interests if you would like me to host a competition. A simple competition.

I dont think we should be "picking" on speling, he is only interested in getting the competition to higher levels. I guess what we all really wanted was a more simple competition, at my level of expertise and with the time frames I had in mind, even the latest threads posted by CP & Zaki have been interesting and fun, I have already learnt things from them, and to be honest that`s all I will be looking for from any competition... an excuse to "Make" me focus on modelling something for both practice and fun !

I will still be interested in what the " committee " arrange hehe, but for the time being I will give this thread a miss

CP, I will happily have a go at any simple modelling comp you want to start... the 3d curve and text challenge was good enough for me

Hello everybody !

What have you establish yet ?
Have you made rules ?
When the competition will start ?

( Have you got sponsors ? - I'm just curious )

Hi guys,

I have got a simple idea. Why not ask everybody to send in their entries. The limits can be on maximum file size. & every body is allowed to see them & every legitimate member should be given a chance to vote.

we can set in the categories.
& everybody gets a chance to vote in every catogery.

Just a bump so that we dont loose the topic. I have been away from the forum for a few days, too damn busy to play around with pro-e
smiley19.gif
.

Just wondering if there was any update on the competition because I am desperatly trying to arrange for a floating liscence of pro-e so I can work from home and get more practice etc... ready to win the competition
