RENDERING...Q&A and GALLERY

Hi everybody...James your models is really cool......

View attachment 2454his This is my last render. I hope you like.In WF3.0 new render options is nice.*You can edit photolux library materials *Light control are perfect and you can snap light fall point to the model (with shift) * You can write text , or put small pic (like signature) ...

Not too bad SKYWALKER. I think the only thing amiss is the rest of the bulb needs to be lit and the shadow under the light should be darker also. Probably photoshop would be best to complete the light. I think you probably did the best you could do with a lightsource in pro.

SOrry MIKO, I have been swamped with work at home and my computer is giving me alot of problems. I will get your model posted as soon as I can.
Edited by: CPiotrowski

The reason I havent gotten MIKO's finished yet is because this small model for some reason took 8hrs to complete. THat is unacceptable. I think I am having a problem with my monitor. I am gonna try to exchange it for another today.

Hi guys, I wasn't here for a while, now I'm back!
I see that you have been busy, and make some wonderful renders

@Cpiotrowski
That bathroom render, it is amazing, your skills are one again proved
smiley32.gif

@design-engine
Great model of Mustang, and amazing render in Maya
smiley20.gif

@Miko
Excellent model of Gearbox, once when Cpiotrowski finish its render it will be amazing
smiley20.gif

@SkyWalerk
Nice render of dungeon lamp
smiley2.gif

But I would use lance flare in photoshop rather to use them in Po/E

I see that there is dilemma, which render software is better.
I would suggest that we create challenge, where we put one model, everybody can download this model and render it with any render software they want, and then upload picture.
Then we can judge which one was better render
smiley2.gif

Now here is my new renders, I didn't want to post enything utill I finish my renders

Remeber my hand winch from beginig? well I discovers some errors in my calculations, and I have to redesign it

So here are new renders in WildFire 3.0:

Hello everyone

Isair

Nice renders
smiley4.gif
. I like them a lot. As for myself, I am still having trouble with materials and room textures. Yours are fantastic, did you create them your self or did you download them?

CP

yet again you have created an amazing render, I can only imagine the final efects on the curved surfaces of the model. Your wood floor is truly fantastic, how did you create it?

I find that my biggest falling point is textures and room settings. The Maya renders on page 70 are truly amazing. I have the educational version of Mayabut cant get it to work. Maybe in the future as I have just finished a Mechanica course and my head is thumping.

l havelearned so much from this thread, thanks to everyone

Steven

thanks STEVEN

I do make alot of my textures because I can't get my photolux library to show. Alot of my setup time goes towards having to make materials.

I'm gladeveryone likes the image. I would show the internals if I could but unfortunetly I can't. This is a complete working assembly created in 8hrs from little to no information or help. 8 hrs and the customer received this concept image the next morning. This is the first time the customer has seen a semi-realistic image of his product. Up until this model it was just a scribbled on paper idea. The texture on the floor is just a standdard wood texture. What helps is the bump map and the correct settings for shine and reflectivity. Usually people tend to add too much reflection to wood, including myself. IfI remember to keep the reflection subtle, it really helps alot.

Very nice renders Isair, very nice! Add some machine cuts to your exposed flange surface. That will really help in the realism. I am impressed

Hi Isair.

Nice to see you here again. :) As I can see wehave a same construction oftwograded spur geared gearbox with straight toothing.Does your teeth haveaninvolute profile?Is this just study or some concept or it was calculated? I mean somestress analysisof twisting and deflecting of crankshafts and all sides if teeth, lifetime of bearings and so on...? As I can see you have used slide bearing, setting stick (split pin) and other components of gearbox.. And it appears to be projected ..I mean dimensioned.. Isnt it ? by the way .. My gearbox is my bachelor project. Now I have alreadydone all computations and whole projection is finally behind me (55pages). I have evendone pretty big animation madein Design Animationmodule of whole assembly. take a look: http://www.mcadcentral.com/proe/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=31 269&PN=2

anywayyour render is nice.

CP: I think that the new capabilities in ARXof WF 3.0 would be dangerous weapon in your hands

It's good to be back!
smiley2.gif

@stevenqneuk
I have downloaded most of my textures, and I use graphic library textures, but then there is also a need to create my own.
Here are few links where you can download some great textures:
http://textures.forrest.cz/
http://astronomy.swin.edu.au/~pbourke/texture/
http://www.mayang.com/textures/

@CPiotrowski
Thanks for compliments and suggestions
smiley20.gif

@Skint
Thanks for compliments, I'm try my best to use full power of ARX
smiley2.gif

@Miko
This gearbox, is part of my program to create hand winch, and it was fully calculated; dimensions, module, tooth stress analysis, torque and bending of shafts, bearing pressure, and so on
smiley2.gif

Gears have full tooth profile, and I used Involute curve.
Yes I used slide bearings because it is for small speeds, and it is easy to lubricate with grease.
Also my other components of construction are calculated (although only in MathCad, I didn't have time to create mechanica analysis, but I attend to create some for hook and maybe one more component).
So with this bachelor project, you are then almost finish your university, thats great news, congratulations!
smiley32.gif
smiley20.gif

I have seen your pictures from animation, it seams great, is it possible to upload full animation?
smiley2.gif

@James
Thanks for compliments
smiley20.gif

Yes there was a lot modeling time, and a lot time spend in calculations, once you calculate go to Pro/E, model it, then with results go back to calculations, recalculate, back to Pro/E for final results. Real engineering stuff, and If I was supposed to do it manually it would be disaster
smiley2.gif

Thanks PTC for ProE!
smiley4.gif

Note: I have noticed, that on my picture of hand winch, there aren't shadows, and winch is to far from wall, I must repair that and post another pic

Isair wrote: Real engineering stuff.

Yes, I know exactlywhat you aretalking about
smiley14.gif
.....I am planning to learn FEA andmake an analysis of shafts and at least onegear in Pro/MECHANICA..How many parts do you have in your whole assembly..(I have 105 parts)..And from this reason it took me long time to define all positions and other things what is required for completing animation. As I wrote earlier I just cant upload it, because it is 100MB big. Although at this time I am working on another, longer animation with more details and help shadows lights and so on because my new 4GB RAM allows me to do it. Design AnimationOptionis pretty hard for hardware (for long animation with many details).. I know that the best way to do the photoreal animation would be the way of Alia Maya but I just dont have much time to learn rendering of moving assembly in Mayaof imported parts from PROE (because september is approaching to me
smiley18.gif
)...so pity, final result would be much better forgreat presentationthan in PROE
smiley19.gif
...I would like to upload my animation here but it is so large...And by the way: Does your first input gear on shaft have less than 17 teeth? I have 25 teeth at my inputgearso I didntneed to modifi a profile ofinvolutetooth for module but I used correction for pitch of axis and so on. As I can see, your input shaft and firstgearare maded from onepart just like my...And thanks for gratulation Isair... appreciate.

Miko..

if you are using windows XP, use windows movie maker to compress the file to under 1 mb and upload it..

Cheers,

James

James.. wow .. I dont want believe that I can compress 100MB into 1MB [LOL] ... It will take me my high resolution (1024x768) and other things...By the way I have *.mpg file.

try it.. you will be surprised! reduce the resolution to maybe 600*480 or maybe even smaller..

output it as a WMV.. most of my raw animations are about 150MB for 10 seconds.. easy to compres them (for preview) to about 1 MB.. proper quality is generally about 30Mb for 1min in the end after editing with no noticable loss in quality.

My whole asm of hand winch have exactly 148 components. My first gear have 16 teeth's, gear and shaft are made from one part. I didn't make correction, because I doesn't need to in my program, the focus of program is winch, not gearbox, but because of dimensioning I have to make part of gearbox calculation (almost all, except teeth correction, and thermal calculations).

James: OK I will try it and than I will show my result here...If I will have big size again ... then I can split it into few *.RAR files and upload here..

Isair: Wecan talking about engineering in other (MDX,BMX,FEA) topics not here... come on man we are on the 74. pages
smiley36.gif
.... I will be glad to continueabout this theme but wecant here...

CPiotrowski,

I was able to get the Photolux system library to work. As well as adding the pro_texture_library you also need to add the path for texture_search_path which will append a location to the search path.

View attachment 2474This is what you should see. Mine's installed on a network drive and I have also downloaded the ARX library which I can send to you if you so wish. My e-mail address is [email protected].
